DUTY STATION: Sefwi Wiawso and Sunyani (with long periods spent in other communities in Western and Brong Ahafo Region during the project implementation period)

Job Summary
This job seeks to support the implementation of the Ghana – Dedicated Grant Mechanism (G-DGM), which has the following as its objectives (a) enhancing the capacities of local people to strengthen their participation in the FIP and other REDD+ processes at the local, national, and global levels; (b) promoting the sustainable management of forest and natural resources through grant funded sub-projects; (c) promoting coping and adaptive strategies/livelihoods that will make local people more resilient to man-made pressures and climate change (also through the grant-funded sub-projects); and (d) promoting synergies with the FIP project.

Solidaridad is seeking to hire FOUR (4) FIELD OFFICERS to assist the project implementation team and the National Steering Committee (NSC) of the G-DGM in the overall implementation of the project.

Project Implementation and coordination task
Lead community mobilization and awareness creation on the DGM program
Lead all community based trainings/capacity building activities on DGM using materials developed by the project on climate change/REDD+ and livelihoods.
Support the conduct of field training monitoring and evaluation of training and capacity building programs as needed for routine reporting and periodic review of training materials related to communication approaches to ensure high impact of DGM.
Ensure project visibility in line with world bank DGM standards
Undertake any other assignment that may be needed for the successful implementation of the Ghana – DGM.
Support the identification of community level CBOs, FBOs, and individuals that will be affected by REDD+/climate change activities.
Support the implementation of field based project activities under component 2 of the Ghana DGM
Conduct routine monitoring and supervision of field activities that are being implemented by the project beneficiaries
Be the first point of contact for social and environmental safeguard issues, including grievance redress mechanism.

Co-operates with and ensures regular contacts, dialogues with the local communities, relevant organisations, non-governmental bodies and persons within the project’s environment as well as with other projects in order to enhance and maintain good working relationship
Communicates and channels local interest and aspirations and exchange ideas and information for the benefit of the project
Maintains repeated field visits to the project communities in accordance with the requirements of the project
Be the key liaison between communities and DGM implementation team on all aspects of the programme’s implementation including training work plan preparation, organization of community logistics for capacity building activities etc.

Monitoring and knowledge management
Monitor program progress, review reports and documents concerning the progress of collaborative programs, determine bottlenecks and make recommendation for management action
Promote learning and knowledge sharing of innovative ideas documenting successes and building them into the design of new approaches
Compile information about the project/program and ensures knowledge transfer
Develops strategies and technical concepts including guidelines, manuals, and procedures,
Prepares reports and presentation materials
Prepares appropriate input to the various project/program reports/publications including annual reports; contributes to other reports
Supports research and study activities on policy topics that will benefit collaborative programs
Responsible for the management of personnel, finances, and infrastructures of the entrusted area of activity

Educational Requirements & Qualifications

Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental studies or natural resource management with experience in community based forestry and community development work.
Have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in similar position working with communities on natural resource management and climate related activities.
Basic understanding about cocoa and agroforest interaction
Good communication and interpersonal skills in English and Twi.
Strong commitment and passion for rural development or community based work and willing to work in remote rural areas with minimum supervision
Should be prepared to ride a motor bike
