Finance Manager

Impact Malaria

We are currently seeking dynamic individuals to join the team on the implementation of malaria service delivery activities in Ghana.

The project will operate over a five-year period.

Job Summary:
Undertake the day to day management of the Finance and Administrative departments, with under the leadership of the Director of Finance and Administration

Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting and Finance
Maintains sound accounting records
Reviews payment requests
Reviews sub-grantees payment requests
Ensures customer and vendor information is accurate and up-to-date
Ensure timely clearing of staff advances
Prepares monthly payroll
Ensures appropriate VAT reporting and claims
Prepares journal entries
Prepares monthly QuickBooks reporting files to be submitted to Impact Malaria HQ by the required due date
Prepares month-end balance sheet reconciliations
Responds to monthly due diligence action items
Ensures timely filing of tax returns and payments to tax authorities
Ensures proper filing of accounting records
Ensures appropriate controls are in place to safeguard assets, records, etc.
Facilitates the work of internal and external auditors
Supervises team members in Finance and Administrative departments
Cash and Banking
Closely monitors banking transactions.
Prepares monthly bank reconciliations and ensures timely clearing of deposits and uncashed payments
Prepares monthly average exchange rates
Reviews expenses from petty cash and ensures compliance with local and global petty cash policies and procedures
Conducts regular unannounced petty cash counts.
Budgeting
Assists program team in developing work plans and annual budgets for program activities and local office costs
Monitors budget utilization in close coordination with country management and program staff
Assists in the preparation of local activity budgets
Ensures appropriate tracking of expenses
Ensure that appropriate mechanisms are in place and adhered to prevent over or under spending.
Administration
Participates in the conduct of periodic inventories
Participates in the preferred vendor selection process
Participates in fixed assets verification exercises

Educational Requirements & Qualifications

Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or equivalent experience
Five years of experience in financial management of international NGOs
Ability to analyze financial data, create and track budgets, and maintain financial management systems
Knowledge of local taxation applicable to NGOs
Knowledge of US government cost principles, especially USAID, CDC,
Knowledge of GAAP and grant/contract management
Good knowledge of the Office package (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Access, Excel PowerPoint, Word)
In-depth working knowledge of QuickBooks and other relevant accounting softwares
Fluency in English
Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills
