Labour Relations Manager


The position is centered on industrial harmonization, staff welfare issues in line with conditions of Service and Collective Bargaining Agreement as well as policies in place so as to promote a peaceful working environment.

The role also has a core focus on development of Employee Relations strategies.

Principal Accountabilities
Ensure effective Management of the Industrial Relations activities within the company by :
Keeping industrial discipline
Ensuring that committees are set up to handle disciplinary matters of staff.
Ensuring that monthly industrial Relation activity reports are submitted to Management
Participating in the Company’s relations with the Communities in its operational areas
Participating actively on issues of Environment, Health and Safety on the Field and administration of company’s camps
Participating in wage negotiations with Union
Coordinating the organization of durbars
Guaranteeing strong and effective relationship between management and Union (local & National)
Ensure effective and efficient administration of Company accommodation by:
Administering and assigning accommodation to staff in collaboration with Heads of Departments
Guaranteeing an accurate data base of Company residential properties (quarters and labour-lines) and their occupants
Overseeing, coordinating and ensuring that the needs of the Company’s tenants are brought to the attention of Management and resolved promptly.
Ensuring that Company bungalows and labour lines are well maintained and managed
Guarantee the welfare of staff and great atmosphere devoid of tension and social unrest at all times by:
Ensuring frequent interactions with staff in order to call the attention of management on the welfare needs of staff
Ensuring workman compensations are filed and paid to beneficiaries
Maintaining good rapport with contractors workers
Ensuring that established welfare systems for contractors are adhered to and implemented
Guarantee staff Engagement by:
Liaising with Heads of Department to collate needs of staff
Establishing an engagement policy to ignite the branding of the Company

Educational Requirements & Qualifications

First Degree in Human Resource Management/ Social Sciences/Arts/ Business Administration or its equivalent.

Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in management position

Regulatory bodies and Law enforcement agencies
Competency/ Skills (Essential and desirable)
Formulation of medium and long-term Industrial Relation strategy
Behavioural and cultural change experience
Ability to effectively interact with Colleagues and Top Management at all levels of the Company
Leadership Skills
Very good level of Computer skills
Skills (practised capability/behaviour)

Experience of complex union negotiations / consultations
Knowledge of Ghana Labour, International Labour Organisation Laws e.g.
Excellent communication and influencing skills
Excellent decision making & problem solving skills
Result oriented
Team Player
